Gavin S. Baker is an investor living in Boston. Gavin is the CIO and Managing Partner at Atreides Management, LP.

He graduated from Dartmouth College with degrees in Economics and History in 1999.

Gavin Baker began his career at Fidelity following cement and aggregate stocks in September, 1999. In early 2000, he began covering semiconductors which gave him a front row seat as the technology bubble burst. Gavin covered large cap pharmaceuticals and managed Fidelity Select Pharmaceuticals from 2002-2004. He covered retail, tobacco and consumer staples from 2005-2006. He was an analyst on the large cap growth team in 2006. Gavin was the sector leader of the telecommunications team and managed Fidelity Select Telecommunications from 2007-2009. This fund outperformed comparable telecom ETFs in the 2008-2009 bear market from the market peak to trough. He also managed Fidelity Select Wireless from 2007-2011.

Gavin Baker was the portfolio manager of the $17 billion Fidelity OTC fund from 2009-2017. The OTC fund outperformed over 99% of its Morningstar peers and won 6 Lipper awards over Gavin's 8 year tenure. Gavin Baker was the Boston Globe's fund manager of the year in 2014 and his performance was recognized by articles in Barrons, the New York Times, Investors Business Daily, Forbes and the Wall Street Journal. He helped spearhead Fidelity's venture capital investing and was a board observer at Nutanix, 23andMe, Jet.com, AppNexus, Dataminr and Roku while also investing in Twilio, WeWork, Cloudflare and SpaceX among others.

Gavin S. Baker married Becky Painter on August 11, 2018 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Gavin Baker and Becky Painter met while working at Fidelity Investments, where she is still an analyst and portfolio manager. Gavin enjoys heli-skiing, science fiction and playing videogames.
