New York City based photographer George Karabinis picked up the art when gifted a Kodak 133 from his father when he was 8 years old. He was immediately fascinated and hooked on film.

During his teens he acquired a 35mm film Yashica which lead to a deeper appreciation about the science and craft of photography while he was assisting in a local photography shop in the city of Athens, Greece. In exchange for his time and energy, George was mentored in photography, film processing and production.

He later received a BA in photography from Akto Art and Design College of Athens Greece as well as a Diploma in Marketing & Management from Future business School. These valuable experiences helped him launch his career freelancing in digital photography and image making working with notable artists, models, performers, and countless companies both in Greece and Europe.

Driven by his desire for education, George studied philosophy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and has attended seminars on the Performing Arts such as; Stanislavski Method acting, Physical Theater, Script Writing, Direction, Sound and Light engineering, Ancient & Classical Theater and Improv. Later he would become involved in media productions, music videos and commercials.

George’s New York City experience has been a leap of faith and granted the artist a unique perspective on life and the resilience to overcome the challenges of immigration.

He is an accomplished international photographer using film and digital cameras, utilizing his skills in a broad spectrum of the craft.

His expectations for the future are to be involved in the community by providing mentorship and creating resources for underprivileged artists.
