Writer. Photographer. Filmmaker. All around curious.
I recently completed an MFA in Documentary Media at Ryerson University, with a written thesis on the impact of the digital media revolution on independent female artists, and an accompanying documentary film, "Indie Womyn" as my major research project. The film screened as part of the Ryerson Doc Media MFA Documentary Festival (DOC NOW 2015) at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema.
Other documentary projects completed so far:
- "Biotech Blacksmith" (short doc film): http://youtu.be/k03iD0T7dWM
- "Sophie: A Life in Pictures" (multimedia web doc): https://gesilayefa.creatavist.com/stories/
A freelance writer and photographer, I have written for Cadencemag.com about music (including NXNE and CMW festival coverage), theatre, film and television, reviewed films for WylieWrites.com, and have written about film in Toronto for blogTO.com and about indie music for MusicVice.com.
My photography includes portraiture, set photography, concerts, corporate and community events, as well as street-style, art and life photography documented on my blog, http://paparazzipixie.tumblr.com
