I am a dual American/Canadian citizen currently studying at the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Before moving to Victoria to begin my post secondary studies, I lived in the rainy city of Seattle, WA, USA . At the University of Victoria, I am in my fourth year working towards a degree in Professional Writing/Social Justice, a minor in Business, and a certificate in Spanish language and cultural proficiency. In the spring of 2015, I look forward to completing a social justice practicum, allowing me to become directly involved with an organization in the community.
A large portion of my community and professional involvement stems from my work with the University of Victoria’s international sorority, Kappa Beta Gamma: Upsilon. Since joining the organization in 2013, I have held the positions of Philanthropy chair, Public Relations chair, and currently Vice President. I have gained experience in managing social media platforms, as well planning and executing fundraisers that have earned over $2,000, with partial funds donated to the Victoria Special Olympics. Kappa Beta Gamma is close to my heart from the multitude of personal and professional connections it has given me.
Travelling has been and continues to be one of my main passions. I was blessed with the opportunity to be an au pair for two different families in the small towns of Museros and Valderas, Spain. I fell in love with the Spanish language and culture during my time there. Additionally, I embarked on the I-witness Holocaust field school throughout Germany, Austria, and Poland. This field school explored how the lessons of the Holocaust are still relevant today.
