Our mind is mainly operating in a dual modus, wandering between automatically emerging polarities such as: good or bad, right or wrong, negative or positive, unpleasant or pleasant. Do we have other options?

The pace of our life, a mechanical and undisciplined thinking of modern medicine - so called evidence-based - and short-sighted common sense psychology accompanied by the digitalisation of our daily routines alienate us from the core issues in private and professional life: What am I really looking for? Who am I? An answer can be traced back to Greek mythology: 'Know thyself'. In order to reclaim that state of being, another way of dealing with my habitual patterns of thinking, feeling and acting is needed.

The genuinely technical term ‚triggered‘ is now widely used in the frame of human communication. ‘I am triggered by someone or something’ is somehow misleading and deceptive. ‘Evidence-based' mechanical, reactive patterns ignore, that - despite a labelled ‘trigger’ - it will first and foremost remain an individual reaction, that have to be dealt with properly - although it might be easier blaming others.

Unfortunately the temporarily ‘Zeitgeist‘ concerning ‘wokeness’, ‘cancel culture’ as well as ‘political correctness’ is supporting rather the latter. It's important to recognise, that blaming external factors for our reactions may hinder the ability to address underlying issues within ourselves.

Nevertheless there is another side to the coin in delivering an indicator regarding a lack of professional empathy, ownership and the level of self-reflection. Last but not least, all the way long we will be back to ‘square one’: What will be the outcome, if I don’t have an idea what and who am I?
