Buchanan is a producer and publisher. She is the Assistant Producer of Solomon (2019) and Executive Producer of When the Swan Sings on Hastings: A Short Film. The co-founder of Willow Books (the flagship imprint of Aquarius Press), Buchanan oversees a mission to develop, publish and promote writers of color. Now in its 11 year, Willow has created a national model for professional development. Her groundbreaking LitFest streams live broadcasts of authors of color across the country. Willow events have taken place across the globe. Buchanan has taught at several universities and served as a Poet-in-Residence for the Detroit Public Library and COO for the Wayne County Council for Arts, History & Humanities. Buchanan lectures and moderates panels for a wide range of organizations. She is also the founder of AUXmedia, an independent film production company.
