Helena Matos Leal
Civil Engineer and Passionate about Life, Writer, and Politics in Paços de Ferreira, Portugal
In 1989, the World Wide Web was first conceived of in Switzerland, Portugal wins its first FIFA World Youth Championship, the Berlin Wall fell and Helena Leal was born.
Helena grew up in a small town in the north of Portugal, and in 2007 started studying Civil Engineering at University of Minho, Guimarães.
She attended a Master's Degree in Constructions area and elaborate a Thesis about "Durability of Structural Bonding in Wood Elements".
During University years, Helena also worked in several formal and informal youthful groups, such as Students Association of Civil Engineering and a Politics Youth Association, in which she still takes part. She co-organized various activities in the cultural, recreational, educational and political field. In 2013, Helena participated in a European Exchange, under the project Youth in Action, in Turkey, where several young people discussed current issues of Europe.
At present, Helena looks for a professional internship, whether in Portugal or another country, while she’s improving her language skills in French and German and attending courses of various software tools related to engineering.
