Heather Swanson, Ph.D.
I offer therapy for children, adolescents, adults and families, as well as providing psychological testing and comprehensive evaluations for children and adults. I strive to develop a strong, warm working relationship with all of the individuals & families with whom I work. My approach to both assessment & therapy is collaborative, pragmatic, & creative, focusing on strengths & resilience, as well as areas of stress & challenge. I emphasize evidence based treatment, working to match your current difficulties with therapies supported by research. Having trained as a child clinical psychologist, I also emphasize developmentally appropriate services for all stages of life, whether this means teaching your child new coping skills through the use of games or helping you overcome anxiety & depression through traditional therapy.
Professional Qualifications: I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Washington State University, where my studies emphasized working with children and families. During my graduate training, I also completed specialized training in providing family-centered, multidisciplinary care to children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders, and special healthcare needs through the Utah Regional Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disorders (URLEND) program. After finishing my research and coursework, I moved to Denver to complete my pre-doctoral internship at The Children's Hospital in Aurora, where I worked in both the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Neurotrauma Rehabilitation departments. Following my work at The Children's Hospital, I began working in private practice in Littleton, CO.
