I like corn and talking about how to grow food sustainably and efficiently. I serve as the Special Assistant to the Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Bill Northey. My top priority is serving the people of Iowa, and helping farmers and the general public understand the role they play in Iowa agriculture and policy development. You might see me representing the Secretary and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship at various meetings and events across Iowa; I'd love to visit with you.

I am a Master of Public Health graduate from Emory University specializing in select agricultural issues in the United States and abroad. I grew up around a farm in Wapello County, Iowa, and received my bachelor's degree from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University.

If you'd like to learn more about what I do, or about the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, please email me at jds.swan@gmail.com or visit http://www.iowaagriculture.gov/
