I love creative writing. I have written songs, screenplays and books. "Flowers and Stone", my first novel, is based on a true story about the beginning of Rick and Jan Sikes' lives together.
It is set in the rowdy raucous Texas honkytonks in 1970. A compelling true life love adventure story!
The award-winning sequel to "Flowers and Stone" is titled "The Convict And The Rose" and was released in Spring of 2014. This story chronicles a journey through many years behind bars in Leavenworth Penitentiary and his determination to survive!
"Home at Last" completes the trilogy of these true stories. It brings it all home to roost (so to speak) and will inspire anyone who reads it to keep on keeping on no matter the odds. It is due for release in Spring 2015.
Along with each book, I also release a music CD of original music that matches the time period of the book. The CD released with "Flowers and Stone" was titled "Rick Sikes and the Rhythm Rebels - Early Recordings." The CD released with "The Convict and the Rose" is titled "Forty Foot High" and is unique in that 11 of the 12 tracks were recorded inside the walls of Leavenworth Prison.
The CD which accompanies "Home at Last" brings the family into the music world which was so familiar to Rick Sikes. You'll find songs written and sang by me as well as some sang by our daughter, Deva.
This CD is titled "I'll Be Home When The Roses Bloom Again."
