Jay Tillery

I'm a freelance web developer based in Danbury, Connecticut with over 20 years of experience building and maintaining websites for small businesses, nonprofits, creative agencies, and music industry clients.

I started out doing web development work back in 2001 and never stopped. Over the years I've expanded into Shopify development, custom data tooling, server infrastructure, and more recently AI integration and vibe coding support, helping clients who are experimenting with AI-assisted builds figure out why things aren't working the way they should.

My work tends to fall into a few buckets: building new sites from scratch, keeping existing ones healthy and secure, and solving the kind of technical problems that don't fit neatly into a job description. I've cleaned up malware at 2am, migrated databases, built custom catalog tools for music publishers, launched multi-location event networks, and everything in between.

Some of the work I'm most proud of: building and maintaining an entire network of chapter websites for Prost Network across a dozen US cities, developing a custom ASCAP and Discogs data extraction tool for Now Again Records, rebuilding TravelStaff's web presence from the ground up, and doing ongoing WordPress maintenance for clients who just want their sites to work without having to think about it.

I've worked with clients across music, travel, media, nonprofits, photography, real estate, and healthcare. Most of my best client relationships have lasted years, not weeks. I think that says something about how I work.
