Jean Hall was born in Dundee and grdauated from Edinburgh College of Art. After a career teaching Art & Design in a College environment she now works full-time painting and exhibiting her artworks both Nationally and Internationally. Work has been shown at various times in London, New York, Amsterdam and will feature soon in Singapore. In addition, her highly decorative and orientally inspired artworks are frequently exhibited in commercial galleries across Scotland and the UK.

Hall derives much of her inspiration from the study of Oriental composition and philosophies, fabric arts and embroidery and the natural world. She develops highly colourful paintings that strive to achieve a quietl harmonious compositional balance. This is informed by her enduring interest in the decorative effects encountered in traditional Japanese and Indian artforms.
