Academic Advisor in Lawrence, Kansas

Hello! My name is Jessica Stringer (she/her), and I am an Academic Advisor in the Undergraduate Advising Center at the University of Kansas. I specialize in working with first year students admitted to the School of Education & Human Sciences.
I'm a Jayhawk to the core as I've not only had the pleasure of working at KU since 2013, but I'm also a very proud alum (Rock Chalk!). I was the first in my family to attend college and came to KU from a very small town in south central Kansas. I originally planned to study Secondary English Education, but as I gained new experiences, I also developed new interests. Four years and three major-changes later, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies.
During my undergraduate career at KU, I had the opportunity to work with so many fantastic academic advisors--both as a student and as a Peer Advisor with the UAC--who helped me discover my passion for working with college students. It means the world to me to now be able to "pay it forward" and support current and future Jayhawks throughout their own journeys!
When I'm not on campus, you can generally find me at home with my better half (Mark), our two cats (Lina & Juno), and our dog (Obi); attempting a new craft or home remodeling project; watching Marvel movies or TV shows; or somewhere out and about watching Kansas City or KU sporting events.
