John J. Fiene, LCSW

John is a licensed clinical social worker experienced in providing individual and group psychotherapy for teens, young adults and adults. He specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression and acting-out teens.
John’s approach draws from many traditional psychodynamic therapy models, including Object Relations therapy, Transactional Analysis and Self-Psychology. Additionally, John integrates the wisdom and teachings of various Eastern and indigenous traditions, such as: Zen, Ojibwe, Sufi, Lakota and Taoism.
John received his M.S.W. from Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his B.A. in Sociology from Beloit College in Wisconsin.
Since 2006, John has led groups in public high schools, court-mandated domestic violence programs, hospitals, and after-school programs. John’s groups have addressed anxiety, depression, life-skill development, addiction, family conflict, school-refusal and intimate partner violence. In addition, John has worked with school districts, probation and social service departments in Cook and Dupage County to coordinate care.
John is an artist, and he seeks to live his life as a work of art. His curiosity and creativity enriches his practice as a social worker. John is an avid multi-instrumentalist, writer and poet, book binder, painter, wilderness explorer, and entrepreneur.
