Born in Montreal, Canada, Jon Brasnett is a scholar on Sino-Taiwanese, Sino-Canadian and Sino-American relations. Raised speaking English and French at home, Jon has learned Spanish and Mandarin throughout his education, and has resided/travelled around China for 6 months altogether. Currently a Master of Arts student in Asia Pacific Policy Studies (MAAPPS) at the University of British Columbia, Jon aspires to work for the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD). His current research focus involves Sino-Taiwanese relations, security issues in the Taiwan Strait, as well as issues in religion and governance in the People's Republic of China (PRC).
