Karen Hurworth

Karen is highly qualified with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology & Criminal Justice) and a Bachelor of Business (Public Relations). Both of these qualifications give Karen invaluable skills for her role as Training Coordinator at JPC. Karen’s key responsibilities at John Pearson Consulting are to maintain the student management and online learning system, coordinate training activities and courses as required, assist in providing a professional industry consultation and to provide general administrative support.

Karen’s previous roles and work experience, coupled wither tertiary education, ensure that she is successful in her position at JPC. Organisational skills have always been top on the list of Karen’s skills. In previous roles she has held responsibilities for planning and coordination of events, seminars, workshops and training programs at a National level, plus ensuring compliance with State Regulators where necessary. Karen has worked closely with Business Operations Managers to manage compliance under RTO-specific legislation and regulations including ASQA, NVR Standards, AQF, AVETMISS, as well as funding contracts held with various State departments and industry regulatory bodies. She has also managed reporting, invoicing and claims tasks. These are skills that only industry experience brings and we are very lucky to have Karen on board.

On her list of greatest achievements Karen sights her experience of being part of the growth phase of an RTO that went from a total of 3 staff, delivering 2 units of competency to over 9 training staff across states, delivering full qualifications in the civil and building construction industry as a major influence on her working life. That particular role allowed Karen to develop an understanding of the VET and civil industries, as well as a unique opportunity to be involved in a number of key, large-scale projects from start to finish, and a ring-side seat to the strategic planning processes that drive commercial enterprises.

Karen has a strong work ethic, as well as a genuine interest in learning and professional development. Her attention to detail, organisation and communication skills are great assets for Karen in her role at JPC.
