Juliet Gilkes Romero is an award winning Playwright and Journalist. She has reported for the BBC from countries including Cuba, Ethiopia, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

She is currently under commission at Endemol Shine/Douglas Road Productions, the Royal Shakespeare Company and also Eclipse Theatre. Juliet was recently the RSC-Birmingham University Creative Fellow.

Her most recent theatre production was DAY OF THE LIVING which opened at the Royal Shakespeare Company in June 2018 and is published by Oberon Books.

For television, Juliet has written a pilot for a TV Mini-Series currently in development.

In 2009 Juliet won the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Best Play Award for AT THE GATES OF GAZA published by Oberon Books.

Her play BILAD AL-SUDAN was performed at the Tricycle Theatre as part of a season about the genocidal conflict in Darfur (2006), published by Weinbergers.

Juliet was part of the Hampstead Theatre's Writers' Attachment Scheme and wrote SERGINE performed at an Evening for Haiti fundraising event there in 2010.

She has reported for the BBC from countries including Cuba, Ethiopia, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Juliet is the recipient of the BBC's Alexander Onassis Award.

She has also reported for Sky News International.
