Kristin Eleanor Peterson
Writer in Seattle, Washington
Professionally, I’m a speechwriter at a technology company in the Seattle area. For years, I’ve helped executives turn corporate ideas into interesting, funny, and memorable stories. I’ve written their speeches. I’ve written their blogs. I've written their tweets. During the day, I write behind names like “Tom” and “Peter.”
But at night, “Kristin” comes out.“Kristin” writes about things that matter to her and other rank-and-file working mothers, in her own voice. Topics like what the tech industry could be like if women were to occupy half the seats at the leadership table. Topics like how business could be better if targeting to women didn’t just mean turning the product pink.
In my travels as a writer, I’ve come to realize that all of us have something that stops us from realizing our potential and finding our voices. It's often the status quo’s invisible yet magnetic energy that keeps us from change. I call this, “guarding the elephant".
I’ve just completed a novel about the tech industry, elephants, and the challenges women face.
I want to create a world where my daughter can contribute as much to the planet as my son.
