Laura Natalia Camelo
advisor, communicator, and advocate in Calgary, Canada
I am a passionate mental health advocate and communicator interested in all things advocacy, diversity, education, music, comedy, The Office, and Outlander. For more than three years I have taken on various advisory and client support roles that have allowed me to perfect my organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills. Additionally and thanks to the knowledge and experience I have gained by working with, and learning from, different non-profit organizations and programs such as the Calgary Silver Linings Foundation and Mount Royal University’s Peer Mental Health Education program, and the Mental Health Commission of Canada and the Centre for Suicide Prevention, I now combine my academic background in communications and my love for advocacy work to engage individuals from all walks of life in meaningful ways.
But! I get that it is important to walk the talk, so one of the ways I am doing this is by completing a Children’s Mental Health Certificate and by becoming a volunteer coach for Calgary Youth Justice Society’s In The Lead program in the Winter 2020 term- so stoked for this!
