I am a Christ-follower, Mennonite, Canadian, university graduate, musician, daughter, sister, friend. I grew up on a beef farm near Morden, Manitoba with my parents and 3 brothers, and five years ago I moved to London, Ontario to pursue a music degree.
I was raised and baptized in the Morden Mennonite Church and my faith grew to maturity (although I grow more and more each day!) in university with the support of my InterVarsity Christian Fellowship community and Valleyview Mennonite Church. A year ago, I was invited to travel to Bangladesh for a month-long missions trip to discover more about Jesus -- about His heart for social justice and vision for a global church -- so I went. And then this year (2013) I went again for another month in beautiful Bangladesh. There, God opened my eyes and my heart to global mission, social justice, building cross-cultural relationships, reconciliation with my own cultural identity, as well as His abounding love, grace, and the deep need for our Saviour Jesus Christ in a broken world.
Now, with a music undergrad degree under my belt, and my return from Bangladesh this month (June 2013), seasons are changing and new adventures approaching. Honouring my desire to have deeper and longer term immersion in another culture, as well as return to South Asia, God has called me to go to Indonesia for one year, beginning this August. I will be serving with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in their SALT program (Serving and Learning Together). There are so many ways that this calling is an answer to prayer and a continuation of the gifts God is developing in me! I am so excited and extremely blessed to have this opportunity and I invite you to journey along with me.
