ABOUT LISA and HOLLYWOODN'T:
Lisa Verlo is a writer, performer, and lyricist whose songs have been featured on film and television. After studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Los Angeles, and with Sandra Seacat at her workshops around the world, Lisa took to the road in a vintage VW bus, developing her writing through performance art and participating in the poetry slam circuit. Returning to LA to record albums of spoken word and song, Lisa teamed up with composer and musician Frank Simes for collaborations in music, multimedia, and musical theatre, including The Door, Sex Rated G, The Big Strum, and HOLLYWOODN'T.
HOLLYWOODN'T is Lisa Verlo's personal journey across Hollywood's unsettling sexual landscape. As a fresh faced Midwestern actress, Lisa came to Hollywood looking for fame only to find more action on casting couches than on the stage. Decades later she faces the truth about her derailed dreams with help and encouragement from her muses Katharine Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. With original songs Lisa co-wrote with Frank Simes, HOLLYWOODN’T is an artistic memoir told with candor and insight into the life of an actress before women dared to speak up.
Lisa Verlo will be performing HOLLYWOODN’T at the Gilded Balloon Teviot in the Nightclub room every day from August 2–27th at 16:00 (4pm)
