Trained as an anthropologist and IDEO alumna, Lucie Richter leverages Design Thinking to solve some of the most difficult challenges. She applies ethnographic research methods to uncover people's latent and unmet needs. She has interviewed and observed hundreds of people in context, including patients with chronic conditions, older adults, children, caregivers and healthcare providers across the United States, Europe and China. With tireless curiosity and effective communication skills, she leads teams to discover insights revealing the multiple layers of complex human motivations, and translates them into meaningful designs with lasting business impact for her clients.
Lucie’s clients range from Fortune 500 companies and foundations to the just-founded startup and include Stanford Hospital and Clinics, On Lok, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Eli Lilly, Proteus Digital Health, Lumo Body Technology, California HealthCare Foundation, Facebook and The Lucille and David Packard Foundation to name a few.
A native of Germany, Lucie has lived in the UK and China before landing in California. She earned her BA in Mandarin Chinese Translations from Munich School of Languages and Interpreting in Germany, and her MA in Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. She teaches Design Thinking at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco (CCA) and is also a mentor at Aging2.0's incubator, GENerator as well as SOS Ventures' accelerator leveraging Leap Motion technology, LEAP.AXLR8R.
