Macrina Kgil serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Blockchain, where her work helps the company effectively serve its institutional and retail customers. At Blockchain, Kgil is specifically responsible for overseeing the build-out of the risk and finance operations. She’s well respected within this field of work, and her experience before joining Blockchain was extensive.
Immediately before joining Blockchain, Macrina Kgil was the CFO and then a Strategic Advisor for GPB Capital Holdings. GPB Capital Holdings is a private equity fund that oversees $1.5 billion in managed assets, and Kgil had a large role in helping the fund better operate. Over the course of nearly two years, she managed the build-out for the fund’s finance team. This was no small task, as it included establishing processes across more than 109 distinct entities within the fund.
Macrina Kgil has also been the CFO of Springfield Holdings (now OneMain Financial), which she and the C-level team took public via an initial public offering (IPO). During the IPO, Kgil led an accounting and finance team of over 100 members through debt capital market transitions, acquisitions and dispositions, and other aspects of the public offering. She was with Springfield Holdings/OneMain Financial for a little over 4 years.
Before her success in taking Springfield Holdings public, Macrina Kgil held positions at Fortress Investment Group (Vice President) and PwC (Senior Associate and Manager). Much of her work was in Seoul, Korea while she worked for PwC. She often provided IPO guidance to Korean companies looking to list on exchanges based in the United States.
Macrina Kgil graduated from Seoul National University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. She majored in Mineral and Petroleum Engineering and minored in Chemical Technology. Kgil was also active with the Engineering Department’s Women’s Softball Team.
