I'm fascinated by how things work and how people interact, exploring connections between where we live, the tools we have, what we know, and how we see the world.

Wry, playful, and curious,
I write and edit for a living.
To balance out all those words, I grab a camera and search for new perspectives, noticing beauty, humor, and art in the everyday world. I set out long ago to learn at least a little bit about nearly everything. Now that I know I'll never keep up with exponential growth of information, I'm focusing on teaching and learning, citizen journalism, human rights, economic and social justice, public policy, environmental protection, and good chocolate.
