Principal in Las Vegas, Nevada
My name is Melissa Baker and I am the principal at D'Vorre and Hal Ober Elementary School. I began my career in the Clark County School District as a first grade teacher. After several years in the classroom, I had the opportunity to be an Instructional Coach and work alongside teachers, kindergarten through fifth grade, every day. Beyond the school day, I have had wonderful experiences facilitating trainings at the school and district levels. I am truly a lover of curriculum and enjoy exploring new approaches to content. This will be my fourth year as an administrator in the Clark County School district.
I attended college at Western Michigan University. I earned a degree in elementary education with a specialized endorsement in early childhood. In addition, to my education classes, I spent a large majority of my time participating in the marching band and choir groups. I then earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
I grew up in Warren, Michigan and love the Detroit Pistons. My husband, Carl is a band director in the Clark County School District and we have three children.
I am excited and eager to continue this journey and grow alongside the amazing educators that I am fortunate to work with.
