A long time ago, in a country far, far away (sometimes referred to as Holland), there is unrest on the Internet. Several thousand businesses have declared their intentions to take over the Web... Just kidding. Mike van der Heijden's rise in the online marketing was nowhere near as dramatic as an intergalactic war, as hairy as Chewbacca or as dark as Dark Vader, but it has definitely been a fun and interesting adventure. For Mike, at least.

Originally from Holland, Mike spent much of his school years in Australia and attended James Cook University before starting Knocturnal Promotions in 2006. A small promotions company for the local nightclubs, it wasn't long before Mike discovered online marketing and everything changed.

Knocturnal Promotions transitioned into DigiGlobe Solutions. He began working with some of the biggest names in search engine optimisation and social media such as Bruce Clay Australia and ROI.com.au. And since opening DigiGlobe in 2006, he has worked with some of the biggest ASX-listed and blue chip companies in the country. Some of these include Telstra (Consumer, Business, and Enterprise/Government divisions), Huggies Australia, MBF Healthcare, the Commonwealth Bank and Best Western. Today, Mike is Head of Search at the inbound marketing agency Brand Vision.

This search specialist isn't all work and no play, however. When he's not working with clients or attempting to take over the world with one of his side projects, this closet geek can be found at the gym, watching shows like Big Bang Theory (while coming up with creative reasons as to why he's not at the gym) or enjoying the many wonderful sights and sounds this world has to offer. He's always good for a fun chat, helpful tips or inspiring ideas, too, so be sure to hit him up on your favorite social network.
