Rachel H...

I am now 42 years old; 42 is a great number, if you are a Douglas Adams fan... Do you know where your towel is? Lol... Point being - I think I will stay 42 for at least a few more years. I loved being an HR professional, until my health forced me to forfeit my career, and take on the title of 'disabled'. I have some auto-immune dysfunction (proliferation of B and T cells, some genetic mutation, homocysteinemia) and while all this has baffled a ton of doctors, for me it has resulted in Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or CFIDS... In Canada and the UK, it is referred to as ME, or Myalgic Encephelomyelitis.... I had a classic onset - came down with a virus that floored me for 2 weeks, and then I started having these pain and fatigue attacks that just got worse and worse until... I have 2 grown children; a brilliant daughter who just gradjuated from Art College with a BFA, and who is lucky enough to be working in her field of Illustration. My son is in his sophomore year at an exclusive college, majoring in engineering; although he has not decided what kind yet... I am not sure where the amazing math gene came from - not from me! But he is what I would describe as a math genlus, with hair down to his waist. I dont do drugs or drink alcohol, and have not for over 26 years. I am currently engaged to a man I've known for 20 years; we will probably tie the knot in 2012 - if we are all still here :-P Though pain and fatigue continue to bog me down, my favorite thing is to be making something. I crochet while watching TV, and have my sewing machine set up in the dininroom. I do have an Etsy shop, under MomrulesTwo - check it out! Currenly I have posted for sale a bunch of T-shirts that I've embellished with fringe, lace, ruffles, beads, buttons - the kind of thing you can wear with slacks to work, or with jeans or shorts as a casual ensemble. My next project will be womens dresses and shirts made of t-shirt material (up-cycled tees), the kind of thing that the lager woman prefers - such as empire waists and extra material in the abdomen area. I have a few hats that I've crocheted in neon colors that I need to upload... Future projects include great purses with tons of pockets - because finding a good handbag with enough pockets is such a challenge! Also, be on the lookout for Sculpey and Fimo projects, and needle arts as well. I make a little bit of everything! Hope to see you soon! Cheers! Rachel, or MomRulesTwo :-)
