Monica Reid is a government relations and advocacy professional with ten years of professional experience. She is a graduate of George Mason University with a Masters in Public Administration and a B.A. in Government & International Politics and Economics. She currently serves as the Senior Manager for Advocacy at the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

She has a passion for social justice, civic engagement and politics, which has led her to serve in a number of leadership positions within the community, including Vice President of Candidate Recruitment for the Virginia Leadership Institute, Eastern Regional Social Action Chair for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Social Action Chair for the Alexandria, Virginia Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

For the past five years, Monica has served as Convener for the Northern Virginia (NOVA) Coalition for Black Civic Engagement, working to register, educate and empower black voters in Northern Virginia. In 2015, the NOVA Coalition became a co-founding member of the Northern Virginia Restoration Initiative (NVRI), which seeks to help restore the voting rights of returning citizens and advocate for effective reentry services.

Monica has been a leading force behind social and civic awareness within the community. In 2013, she was awarded the Marian Van Landingham Legislation & Public Policy Award by the Alexandria Commission on Women, the Excellence in Social Action Award by the Omicron Zeta Sigma Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and was a 2013 recipient of the Top 40 Under 40 Award presented by the EnVest Foundation.
