Monica Dhaliwal

Monica is born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She attended David Thompson Secondary School, where she graduated top of her grade. Throughout her high school years, Monica remained heavily involved in her school and her community. She was a member of her school's Community Schools Team, which organized after-school activities for elementary school children. Monica was also an executive leader of David Thompson's New Faces Leaders, a club which aimed to welcome grade eight students by organizing exclusive events for them throughout the school year. Moreover, she served as a responsible and reliable community service student in her senior year.

Monica currently attends the University of British Columbia where she is studying commerce at the Sauder School of Business. She was a volunteer for UBC Business Week 2013, and is a part of the Junior Achievement Alumni club.

Outside of school, Monica is currently employed at Sunset Community Centre. During the school year, she facilitates the centre's birthday party events. In the summer, Monica works as a Day Camp Leader. Monica has been employed at Sunset Community Centre for over 2 years, and has had 3 years of volunteer experience with the centre prior to her employment.

Furthermore, Monica is a proud alumnus of the TiE Young Entrepreneurs Program. She was involved with the program as a student in 2011-2012 ( In this program, Monica was taught a business-focused curriculum, and then participated in a venture challenge. Currently, Monica acts as a student mentor for the incoming students of the program.

Lastly, Monica is a member of an environmental initiative called Down to the Last Straw. The aim of the initiative is to reduce the amount of plastic straws, and other plastic cutlery used on an everyday basis. In addition to promoting sustainable living, the initiative helps her learn valuable skills in marketing, design, communications, and more.
