Neil Hendrick is a Research Technologist, developing software and hardware solutions for human rights, international development, and academic research and applying those solutions in the field. Mr. Hendrick creates training materials and conducts training as well as supervising data collection in the field. He has executed digital data collection projects in the USA, Africa, and the Middle East, working for Tulane University, The University of California at Berkeley, and Harvard University.
As a software developer and field researcher, Mr. Hendrick has wide practical experience in conducting social science research, creating and implementing software and hardware improvements to the research process, and managing data collection systems. Since 2006, he has worked to develop tools for digital data collection and to promote their use by researchers, aid workers, and disaster responders.
As Lead Developer on the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative’s KoBo Toolbox project, Mr. Hendrick developed a software system for digital data collection and deployed the system on a series of large scale population surveys. Encompassing survey design, data collection, database synchronization, analysis, and reporting, the KoBo Toolbox system provides a comprehensive suite of tools for research and monitoring.
