Nelson Green
Chemical Engineer, Water Researcher, and FIRST Mentor in Paola, Kansas
Hi! Welcome to basically a landing page for all my internet activity. The links should take you further to other sites I participate in.
Currently, I'm searching for career opportunities, that would use the knowledge I have in problem solving, analytics, and engineering. Preferably in the area of water sciences, with some field and lab work, along with modeling or analytics.
I continue to work with past colleagues to advance research on dissolved organic matter (DOM) in river-ocean systems, especially with my expertise on sampling DOM in high yield from seawater. Also, some papers recently have been published (soon at ResearchGate) focusing on relating the chemical characteristics of DOM to mercury (Hg) pollution in various Chinese waters (w/ Tao Jiang - a friend and scientist at the Swedish Agricultural University). While this work uses basic chemical analyses, there is continued work and opportunities to refine the methods for very high resolution (and big) data collected by mass spectrometry for DOM, which I've placed work on at my GitHub page. Finally, the ROED method I helped develop is still the highest yielding and adding my knowledge to making the method more accessible to scientist in the biogeochemical fields will possibly enhance understanding of some of these systems, which play oversized roles in the livability on this planet.
