My dream is to explore alternate forms of the media and communication, and to harness the power of technology and cyberspace to serve the commonman (and woman).

Qualifications: M.A.English Literature, Univ of Bombay 1987. Advanced Diploma in Journalism, IIJ-Berlin 1990. Bachelor in Commerce, University of Bombay 1984. Currently (2015) research scholar at Goa University Department of English, working on publishing in 20th century Goa.

Other achievements: Full-time professional journalist, since 1983. Full-time professional and independent journalist since 1994. Founder of Goa,1556 (an alternative book publishing venture based in Goa, India, which has created over 90+ titles by various authors, since 2007).

Visiting faculty, University of Hyderabad, Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Arts, 2007. Sarai Print Media Fellowship, 2001 (studying the contribution of South Asia to GNU/Linux). Co-Founder of BytesForAll, a widely appreciated site and e-zine studying the use of IT and the Internet for development at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bytesforall_readers Member, Admin-Team GoaNet goanet.org mailing list (of approx 14000+expatriateGoans worldwide plus over 6000 on Facebook), from 1995 to date. Also part of this is the Goanet-News network. Has founded India-EJ, Indian mailing-list for environmental journalists.[http://groups.google.com/group/india-ej]. Founder-member of India-Linux Users Group, Goa and Free Software User Group-Goa.

Selected for a study-tour of Germany on the New and Electronic Media, 1999. Undertaken study for Unesco (Paris) on Free Software in Education, and another summary of a mailing list looking at Free/Libre and Open Source Software in higher education.Studied the role of Free/Libre and Open Source Software in Asia, for a wider global study undertaken in Helsinki, Finland in 2004. Undertaken 'country profiles' for various countries of Asia for the United Nations Development Programme, International Open Source Network (APDIP/UNDP).Member of the jury for selection of Manthan Awards for e-content in India.Member of the jury of the Free Software Foundation awards committee.
