Pascal Rodier began his career in EMS in 1988. He progressed through the ranks of the British Columbia Ambulance Service; from paramedic to chief then as a Superintendent. Mar 2012, after 24 years, he left the BCAS. Aug 2012, he began his next adventure in public safety out on the East Coast, where he lives with his beautiful wife of 20 years and three amazing chidren.
He brings experience in leading teams on large-scale events including commanding responses to multiple airplane crashes and multi-causualty fire/Hazmat/CBRNE/civil unrest incidents,large scale civic celebrations, and the 2012 Winter Olympics. His successes have also included planning and implementation of legacy projects within the BCAS, agencies across Canada, EMS Chiefs of Canada, Public Safety Canada, CITIG, the Canadian Police Research Center, YVRAA, and the City of Richmond.
He was the BCAS project leader and also one of the original planners for the province-wide expansion of the Combined Events Radio Project. He is a founding associate of Canadian Interoperability Technology Interest Group (CITIG) and was a part of the national working group that wrote the Communications Interoperability Strategy and Action Plan for Canada. He was recently the EMSCC Representative and Co-Chair on the Tri-Services Chief's Special Purpose Committee on 700 MHz Broadband for Mission Critical Public Safety Data.
He has received numerous awards throughout his career. He is a Member of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem; medal in 1992. He was awarded the Richmond Chamber of Commerce 911 Award for Ambulance Paramedic of the Year in 2003. He was presented with the Governor General’s Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service, 2010 and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, 2012.
In addition to his varied education in emergency response and public safety, he also has an MA, in leadership (Health), from RRU. As a SME on responder interoperability, he has consulted on a number of projects with organizations and governments at all levels. He has written articles on voice and data interoperability and has been an organizer, presenter, and an Emcee at a number of public events, courses, and conferences. [email protected] .
