Peter Smyth

Director in Ireland

I am a technology entrepreneur and business development executive with a background in semiconductors, clean-tech, consumer electronics and communications technologies. I founded the venture-backed semiconductor company RedMere. RedMere later merged with Fresco and launched as Spectra7 on the Toronto TSX Venture exchange (Feb 2013). Before that I worked with Nasdaq-listed Ceva Inc. I spent time in both Portland, OR and Munich, Germany working with Taiwan-based Microtek International (DSD). My business career began with Irish firm Ashling Microsystems, based in Limerick and then London. And it all started from my first engineering role as Design Engineer for Hyster Inc. in Dublin. I qualified with a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University in 1985.

Over the years I have lived in Ireland (Meath and Limerick), the United Kingdom (Maidenhead, Berks), the USA (Portland, OR) and Munich, Germany. I've been lucky enough to travel extensively in the United States, Canada, the UK, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and most EU countries.

Other interesting connections with the fine people at the Microelectronics Industry Association in Ireland (MIDAS), the DCU Engineering School Industry Advisory Panel, the DCU Alumni Council, the Ryan Academy Advisory Group and The Funding For Growth Working Group of The Irish Software Association.

At various times I have been Chairman, Member of the Board, Founder & CEO, Global VP Sales, VP Product Marketing, VP Business Development, Head of European Operations, US Sales Manager, UK Area Sales Manager, Product Marketing Engineer and Hardware Design Engineer.
