One day I came home from Kindergarten and I asked my father “what should I be when I grow up, a doctor, fireman, or astronaut?”
He got down on one knee, took my shoulders in his hands, stared into my eyes and said “whatever you do, I want you to change the world.”
That really messed me up because I actually took it very seriously :)
So I started an organization of multidisciplinary strategists and change-makers from all over the world called the Sustainable Diplomacy Project. We collaborate on ways to use the ever evolving tools and technologies we now have at our disposal to not only make people more connected but to give those new connections great meaning. By doing this we hope to bring the PEOPLE of entire countries closer together and in a productive way.
I firmly believe that if the PEOPLE of countries around the world use the new innovations we have at our disposal to teach the world about themselves, their country, and their culture, we will not have time for much of the conflict we see today.
.....And that would actually be pretty great
I hope with all my heart that the time has arrived where we as a people start solving the problems that threaten our future so our children do not inherit them and I will do whatever I can to make sure their future is secure.
So even though there are warships charging around our waters, chemical weapons being used by tyrants, nuclear arms being pursued, and deadlock in our governments - I still have great hope. Because I see those things as the last dying kicks of an old and ugly way of doing things passing away and a new and more promising way emerging.
Let me know if you are interested in engaging people from around the world to design new cultural and academic exchanges.
Right now we are really working hard on international rule of law programs and also professional/academic international exchanges in the social services field.
