Qusi Alqarqaz
Electrical engineer, Engineering Manager, and Consultant
I am electrical engineer, engineering manager, and consultant. Throughout my career, I have successfully managed more than 200 power distribution systems projects operating at 120V and 480V, as well as MEP engineering projects in the United States, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Turkmenistan.
Additionally, I have worked in planning and engineering the designs of over 20 utility power distribution substations, power distribution-related projects, and oil and gas facilities. These projects have ranged in size from 480V and 24.9kV to 138kV, primarily located in Texas and New Mexico.
Recently, I have relocated to Qatar, where I am involved in planning a 33kV oil and gas electric power distribution system.
My expertise lies in the analysis and implementation of performance enhancement initiatives within the electric utility industry, specifically focusing on high voltage power systems protection and control as well as MEP engineering.
As a senior member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest association for engineers, I actively contribute to IEEE Spectrum and The Institute, sharing my expertise through writing on technical and management topics relevant to the electric power industry. I am also an editor and writer of the IEEE Systems Council History Column.
I am also the History Committee Chair of the IEEE Lone Star Section in San Antonio, Texas, dedicated to preserving and documenting local technological history. I lead initiatives recognizing our community's achievements and contributes valuable expertise in historical research and technology.
