My story in a nutshell…

Ever since I can remember I was dancing to the music genres- soca, bouyon, zouk, cadence, calypso and reggae in the household growing up.

I was deeply immersed in my Caribbean culture from countless family gatherings to dancing belé (folk dance of the island of Dominica) in traditional dress with my brother. I was also exposed by attending the annual NYC West Indian day parade on the parade truck with the Dominica Bouyon band- WCK.

I was born and raised in Bronx, NY. My mother was born in Dominica 🇩🇲 (Not to be confused with the Dominican Republic) and my father was born in Martinique 🇫🇷. Representing my Caribbean heritage and being proud of it is all I’ve ever known.

I am a United States Army veteran and having gone through 2 deployments to Iraq during active duty, I did not know that I was developing signs and symptoms of Combat PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

I am also a Physician Assistant (PA) and practiced medicine as a PA in the military.

PTSD led me to stop practicing medicine which truly broke my heart. I LOVED being a PA, which by the way I still am because I earned that title!

I often felt helpless in how my life and career had changed because of PTSD. Through intensive treatment and therapy programs, I have learned to make lemonade with these lemons 🍋

Music and my Culture became MAJOR contributors to my happiness and sanity.

In 2014, I started participating in stateside Caribbean carnival parades as an adult wearing costumes “Playing Mas” which means to participate in a parade, float or troupe during Carnival.

So I dived deep into my passion for my cultural heritage and created my Brands: Proppah Tingz, Proppah Punch and Tingz Mas.

The mission of all of my brands is to spread cultural awareness.

Proppah Tingz is a Caribbean lifestyle brand dedicated to promoting cultural unity and diversity through unique apparel and event sponsorships.

Proppah Punch is a small island style punch. It's recipe has origins from the island of Dominica. We often cater to local cultural events.

Tingz Mas is a Caribbean carnival costume “Mas Band” group. “Band” is the name given for the entire costume group collectively.

In addition to my brands, I am also a Mental Health Advocate and Disabled Military Veteran Mentor.
