Award winning Rafael Helbig-Kostka is a German-born, American tenor, who is currently employed at the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
Helbig-Kostka, the recipient of the 2021 Österreicher Musiktheaterpreis for “Best Young Artist - Male,” for his performance as Male Chorus in Benjamin Britten's “The Rape of Lucretia,” is known for his sweet vocal timbre and comedic abilities, Rafael feels at home in the roles of Mozart and operetta, the lyric bel canto repertoire, as well as the works of Benjamin Britten, and art song.
The ‘25-’26 Season at the Nationaltheater Mannheim will see Rafael returning to roles such as Conte Almaviva in Il barbiere die Siviglia, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and Ferrando in Così fan tutte, while making debuts as Beppe in Pagliacci, The Mad Hatter in Alice im Wunderland, and 1st Spirito/2nd Pastore in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo.
