Read my resume

You found me! I'm Ryan.

I've worked as a journalist in Asia for more than a decade, mostly in video and mostly at Reuters, touching on top news and investigations alike.

For a good stretch of that I've been running teams of producers and editors to cover digital news of the day from dinnertime in New York to the start of London's morning.

On the side

I’ve been honing programming skills. Lately that's been with a focus on backend and Go, working with databases, AWS and servers/networking more generally.

This summer I'm enrolled with The Lede Program at Columbia University to explore the roles software tools, data and AI can play in the newsroom.

Check out my Github below.

When I’m not busy

— either conducting some of the snappiest news coverage in Asia or deep in my code — you can find me steadily working toward a half-marathon, rummaging through crates of records, learning languages or running a tabletop campaign.
