Sandra Barry

Independent Editor, Writer, and Producer in Denver, Colorado

Thanks for visiting! I'm Sandra Barry, and I can help you tell your story. Here's mine:

After more than a decade in broadcast journalism and online education, I now work as an independent editor, writer, and producer with clients such as Tribune Media, The Brenn-White Group, Craftsy, Rocky Mountain PBS, and Guided365. Running my own business allows me to tackle everything from email marketing, student recruitment websites, and newsletters and brochures, to broadcast media writing and consulting and online courses.

Previously, I worked as a Content Editor at Craftsy, where I developed video and print instructional materials and helped launch two key initiatives—short-form promotional content and a new script template—during my first three months on the job.

As Executive Producer at KVUE-TV in Austin, I won an Emmy for best newscast and multiple investigative awards for a months-long series about deadly explosions.

At KMGH-TV, I produced an Emmy-nominated series about children put at risk by the Denver Department of Human Services.

And as a consultant at Rocky Mountain PBS in Denver, I helped reimagine and relaunch the station's public affairs programming, and developed a new content management system for broadcasts.

I hold copyediting certifications from the University of California San Diego and the American Copy Editors Society.

I love sewing and DIY projects, music, Netflix, mint Oreos, and long summer days. In 2014, my husband, James, and I bought an 80-year-old bungalow in Denver, renovated it ourselves, and lived to tell the tale.
