Academic and Writer in the United Kingdom
A product of Virginia and the homeschooling movement. Her writing has shown up in the magazines The Fiddlehead, The Fog Horn, ThickJam, Digital Americana, Nibble, The Blue Route, Hail, Muse! etc, and The Jack, among others; her novels are published in the UK, United States, Canada, and Australia. She traded her health for a BFA from Randolph College, and her sanity for an MA in Prose Fiction at the University of East Anglia. In 2017 she completed the Ph.D. in Creative and Critical Writing at UEA with the submission of a thesis on extra-legal censorship and the U.S. education system.
Her first novel, The Shore, was longlisted for the Women's Prize and shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award and the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award. It involves an unexpected amount of sex, drugs, and wild ponies. The first chapter has been published as a short story in issue 5 of The Fog Horn.
