Simon Dunn is a portrait photographer based in Nottingham, who specialises in building a connection with people to create portraits that are a collaboration between himself and his subject. Communication is key to this, and time and effort is taken before the final result is determined.

Simon is passionate about photography and considers himself an artist. He continues to work on his own projects as well as undertaking commissions and he is always looking to learn new skills. Inspired by traditional film techniques, this has a strong influence on the way he works, as he chooses to work with film for all his personal projects.

Simon takes influence from the lives of new people he meets, as well as from literature and other portrait artists such as Thomas Struth, Richard Avedon, Diane Arbus, Rineke Dijkstra and Laura Pannack.

After graduating from Nottingham Trent University in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in Photography Simon has recently returned to Nottingham to work with the Hive at NTU until late 2014.

Simon can also be found serving drinks, making contacts and people watching in the coffee shops of West Bridgford.
