Sue Bastone is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals and Chair of the School Library Association. She is involved in various literacy and reading projects and is available as a Consultant in the education and library sectors.

Her many roles have included managing large library departments encompassing the management and development of Library services across schools as well as responsibility for reader development, learning skills and digital and information literacy across the curriculum.

As Past Mistress of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators (2016-17) Sue is working with the WCA Trust on a Literacy project in London schools which has been funded by them until 2021.

Sue has worked in school libraries since 1992 and has experience of the state and private sectors and working with children of all ages. Her mission is twofold - to encourage every child to read for pleasure and to develop "independent learners" who can cope with the huge information demands of the 21st century.

Sue is an active member of the library profession. She is a mentor for CILIP (Chartered Institutue of Library and Information Professionals) and the SLA (School Library Association). She has served as a committee member of the School Libraries Group of CILIP and is a past Chair of the Central and East Berkshire branch of the SLA. Sue reached the Honour List of the School Librarian of the Year in 2010. She is a founder member of both the Berkshire Book Award and the Pupil Library Assistant of the Year Award. She is now Chair of the School Library Association.
