Hello, I’m Tania. I’m a campaigner and researcher with a passion for working on issues that arise in the intersect of human rights, resource use, environmental governance, law, gender and conservation.

I've worked on issues ranging from anti human trafficking, public education and health care, environmental governance and community media as a tool for social change. I love to harness the power of media and tech as tools in my work.

Most recently, Ive been working closely with fisher communities living around Mormugao Port on issues relating to environmental governance and its impact on their lives and livelihood. Here is a report on the same, released as part of my work with CPR - Namati Environment Justice Program: "Closing the Enforcement Gap: Community-led Groundtruthing of Environmental Violations in Mormugao, Goa" http://www.cprindia.org/news/7596

I also write on issues for publications: https://thewire.in/urban/mormugao-port-sagarmala-project-goa-dredging

I've designed, executed and won social change campaigns on environment, gender rights and other issues using nimble, innovative campaigning models. Enabling engagement in policy decision making is important to me.

I also have a keen interest in helping to building progressive, inclusive organizations and have experience in recruitment & building organizational policies.

As an independent consultant, I strive to innovate strategies for activism from the ground up in the Indian context, enable community led initiatives for sustainable livelihoods and participatory conservation and share strategic campaigning skills with communities at the front line of resource conflict.
