I’m a campaigner, researcher, writer and activist with a passion for working on issues that arise in the intersect of human rights, resource use, environmental governance, law, gender and conservation.

I'm passionate about supporting grassroots communities to reclaim their space in governance issues. I love to harness the power of media and tech as tools in my work. I've designed, executed and won social change campaigns on environment, gender rights and other issues using nimble, innovative campaigning models.

Ive worked closely with fisher communities living around Mormugao Port on issues relating to environmental governance and its impact on their lives and livelihood. Here is a report on the same, released as part of my work with CPR - Namati Environment Justice Program: "Closing the Enforcement Gap: Community-led Groundtruthing of Environmental Violations in Mormugao, Goa" http://www.cprindia.org/news/7596

I write on these issues for publications: https://thewire.in/urban/mormugao-port-sagarmala-project-goa-dredging

Im support various the grassroots movements in Goa demanding for the bottom up preparation of Coastal Zone Management Plans which has been quite successful. I have personally worked on the Draft CZMP for the village where I live. Here is a indepth piece I wrote exposing the lack of stakeholder involvement by the Govt on this issue: "The curious case of Goa's CZMP - a mismanagement plan in the making" https://www.heraldgoa.in/m/details.php?n_id=148477

Furthermore, I have a keen interest in helping to building progressive, inclusive organizations and have experience in recruitment & building organizational policies.

As an independent consultant, I strive to innovate strategies for activism from the ground up in the Indian context, enable community led initiatives for sustainable livelihoods and participatory conservation and share strategic campaigning skills with communities at the front line of resource conflict.
