Oslo, Norway

My first job was with the UN Dept of Public Information in New York, in the NGO Section. It was fun and educational to co-organize weekly briefings and annual conferences. Perhaps my most interesting professional and personal experience was working with the UN electoral mission in Cambodia 1992-93. After seven years with the UN, I joined UNHCR in Belgrade, Serbia as spokesperson and later as head of the repatriation unit. I was researcher at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and communications advisor with the Ministry of Defence in Oslo. Following two years with the Council of the Baltic Sea States in Stockholm, I rejoined UNHCR, in Geneva, as Special Advisor on Gender Issues to the High Commissioner. The next opportunity was in a new position as Diversity Advisor at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C. After three busy years in DC the kids and I are back in Oslo, where I communicate research for development at Norad.
