Tony Burke

London

I'm a Principal Lecturer and University Teaching Fellow at the University of Westminster in London. Currently, I'm on a partial scondment to the University's Learning Futures Programme, an institution-wide programme of change, where I'm the Academic Lead on the Transforming Learning and Teaching Project. I also teach on the Construction Studies Programme in the Department of Property & Construction, Faculty of Architecture & the Built Environment.

My professional background is in the construction industry, where I qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor.

Outside of work my life mainly revolves around my family and friends. I live in Harrow in north-west London. I love Ireland and I'm very proud of my Irish heritage. I'm also a football fan, and my son and I are season ticket holders at Queens Park Rangers FC, so we experience frustration and disappointment on a regular basis. I am a paid-up member of Republic because I believe that the monarchy is an anachronism in a modern society, and that a democracy should have an elected head of state.

For 2015 I'm maintaining an online daily photojournal.
