"I’m Travis McLean, a lifelong sportsman with a passion for golf and Australian Rules Football. From 307 senior AFL games to coaching premiership-winning teams and competing in Longest Drive competitions to working at any of the top global golf events, sport has always been at the centre of my life."

I grew up in Albury, NSW, in a family where golf was a way of life. My dad played off scratch and that passion for the game quickly became part of my own story. Today I play off a handicap of 4 and a passion of mine is playing as many different golf courses as possible around the world, from Dubai to Chicago and all Asia.

Golf has taken me to some amazing places. In 2019, I worked as the Head Merchandiser at the Presidents Cup, supporting both the USA and International teams. I’ve also travelled to the BMW Championship in Germany and the Paris Golf Show, experiences that gave me a deeper appreciation of travelling and professional golf.

But golf is just one chapter in my sporting life. For over 45 years, I was involved in Australian Rules Football, playing 307 senior games. Some highlights included a premiership with West Perth Football Club, early opportunities with Carlton Football Club, and the honour of representing Western Australia in the 2003 State of Origin against South Australia.

After retiring from playing AFL in 2020, I turned my focus to coaching. I’m a Level 2 AFL coach and have had the privilege of leading the Burleigh Bombers women’s team since 2020. In 2024 we made history together, winning the club’s first-ever Women's team premiership. Watching the players develop and succeed has been one of the proudest moments of my career.

For me, sport has always been more than just competition. Whether on the golf course or the footy field, it’s taught me patience, resilience and humility. These lessons have shaped who I am today, both as a coach and as a person.

Now I spend my time balancing my passion for golf with coaching, while also sharing my experiences and insights. I enjoy connecting with others who love sport as much as I do, whether that’s through writing, commentary, or just having a chat about the game.
