Student in Chapel Hill, North Carolina
I am a senior business journalism and political science major at UNC-Chapel Hill.
I am really passionate about covering the local community and the business world in general. At school, I wrote for The Daily Tar Heel as a senior writer for two years. Enterprises stories included UNC graduate students’ financial difficulties and the computer science department’s fast growth. A staff writer at Southern Neighbor, I wrote pieces on high child care costs and local businesses. I am also involved in a new initiative North Carolina Business News Wire, reporting on public and private companies in North Carolina by using public documents and filings. In summer 2015, I interned with Reuters News in Shanghai, where I witnessed the Chinese stock market crash (pretty exciting!). Most recently, I interned with The Wall Street Journal’s Shanghai bureau, reporting on the city's history, Yuan's depreciation and other interesting stuffs. This internship was sponsored by the Overseas Press Club Foundation.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading books by Leo Tolstoy and Anton Chekhov. I am also a freelance translator for the Chinese science education website, Guokr.com.
