Allycia Raphahlelo
Student in Johannesburg, South Africa
Hey there, Allycia here. I was born and raised in Ga-raphahlelo village in Limpopo, but I currently reside in Johannesburg because of school. I’m a final year Bachelor of Education in Senior phase and FET Teaching student at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
Being on the other side made me realize that education is more than getting the information and answering tests and exam questions. It is also about understanding and using that information to be aware of and change our reality. So, I chose teaching to help the learners to be aware of their surroundings, and also gain the critical and creative thinking skills to help them improve those realities.
When I am off from my books, I watch videos and visit pages and social media accounts like https://www.instagram.com/thelocalproject?igsh=eXZpbzJydHNyOTZ2, which talks about interior design, which is something I am interested in. I like watching all the steps of the interior designing process, from breaking walls and choosing the correct materials to the final stage of staging the house.
Music is also another thing I like. As a person who grew up with a radio presenter at home, listening to music became one of my daily routines. It helps me to stop my mind from wandering around and just focus on one thing.
