I am a Welsh born Somali Scientist who is passionate about creating novel uses for plant products from Africa and Asia.

The last 13 years I have been researching the pesticidal and medicinal uses of plants indigenous to the "Horn of Africa" region (Somalia and Ethiopia). We have been lucky enough to patent some of these novel technologies and was lucky enough to have licensing them to multinational companies.

Recent innovative botanical developments are:

i) A novel anti-inflammatory /arthritic agent based on Somali frankincense (Boswellia frereana) and

ii) A novel animal feed additive which reduces global gas emissions (methane) by 20% in ruminants.

I am now a consultant Phytochemist and apply my academic/industrial knowledge to develop new commercial applications based on botanicals indigenous to the "Horn of Africa" and the Middle East.
